Melania Trump is no stranger to fashion, which might explain why she reportedly has been taking her cues from Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. Kate Middleton is known all over the world for starting fashion trends, and this has been affectionately referred to as “the Kate Middleton Effect.” This appears to have rubbed off on Melania.
One thing that Kate Middleton is an advocate of, and which Melania Trump has started doing also, is using a color scheme for her fashion choices. For instance, when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around, Kate invariably follows some sort of variation when it comes to the color of green that she chooses to wear. In March of 2012, Kate Middleton chose a long, dark green coat as part of her ensemble and then in 2014 she wore a much different color of green when she took part in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Aldershot.
Melania Trump has been known to wear a strikingly similar style of green dress as the one that Kate Middleton wore in Aldershot, although Melania has her own color scheme reasoning behind her decision to wear green as a fashion choice and in one case it had nothing to do with St. Patrick’s Day.

On one occasion, Melania Trump chose to wear a dark green dress when she and Donald Trump invited King Abdullah and his wife to the White House. This was a mark of respect to King Abdullah as as green is used in the flag of Jordan. Melania had Herve Pierre, who also created her Inaugural Ball gown, create this special dress of hers.
What made people sit up and take notice of Melania Trump’s dress and compare it to the one previously worn by Kate Middleton is because Melania chose to wear a thin, black belt around her waist which gave her a slender appearance. This is a conscious fashion choice and one which Kate employs often when it comes to the clothes in her wardrobe.
When Kate Middleton attended her sister Pippa’s wedding on May 20, she wore an Alexander McQueen dress that was a pale pink color. The very next week, when Melania Trump was taking a tour of a hospital in Brussels and visiting the Magritte Museum, she donned an outfit made by Maison Ullens which was almost identical in color and style to Kate’s.

Devoted followers and curious onlookers of Kate Middleton’s fashion choices will know that she is a big fan of the color blue, and especially a pale, light blue. When Kate attended the James Bond film Spectre in 2015, she wore a very special light blue dress, and during Donald Trump’s inauguration Melanie Trump wore a dress quite similar, as The Express reported.
Besides blue, red is another one of Kate Middleton’s favorite colors to wear, and the Duchess of Cambridge wears a bright red colored outfit often. Melania Trump also has started to wear red often and in March wore a glowing red Alice Roi coat with matching gloves adorning her hands.
On another date, Melania Trump was attending a special event at Mar-a-Lago and wore a red dress with straps, while Kate Middleton had also worn a red Preen dress with straps when she and Prince William took a royal tour of Canada.

While some might think that wearing the same colors doesn’t necessarily mean that Melania Trump emulates Kate Middleton’s fashion choices, a quick look at the two women and the outfits they choose to wear will show that if Melania really isn’t knowingly trying to dress like Kate, the two must have extremely similar tastes in fashion.
When the Duchess of Cambridge was attending a soiree at Buckingham Palace in February, she wore a shimmery, silver Erdem dress, complete with long sleeves and, most importantly, a hem just below the knee. When Melania Trump opted to view a concert in Italy, she also wore a long-sleeved silver Dolce & Gabbana dress with the same hem below the knee. Coincidence?
Sometimes their tastes are even in the same designer, as well as color and style. Kate Middleton has famously been wearing her Michael Kors coat since 2014 and Melania Trump also bought a Michael Kors coat with a large belt around the middle, like Kate’s, and wore it on her trip to Brussels, as Yahoo Style report.
Have you noticed that Melania Trump is influenced by Kate Middleton’s fashion choices and what other outfits have you noticed that are similar?
